"Health is Wealth"; by the same mantra did LGU-Tabaco City has launched its latest health and fitness program dubbed after the famed “Biggest Loser”. With a catchy tagline, “Tinimbang ka Ngunit Kulang”, the selected lucky contestants from the pool of the city’s LGU employees are all aimed at graduating from the program with less of their health burdens than when they first stepped in the scale during the program’s screening last April 7, 2012. Yes, the overweight and obese city LGU’s employees are the lucky ones to undergo this meticulous journey to shedding off some excesses.
Assisted with the city’s team of health experts, the contestants are constantly undergoing medical supervision throughout the program so as to ensure that they are performing the physical activities only within the ambit of their physical capacities. In fact, even before the contestants were chosen, they have undergone the same, to ensure that they are fit to perform each required physical exercises. Headed by Hon. Sheina Marie Onrubia, the dynamic city councilor as the event chairperson and under the supervision of the city mayor as the event executive, the Biggest Loser is also a part of the upcoming Tabak Festival 2012. The awarding of the winners is set on June 22, 2012, during the LGU Night, coinciding with the city’s awaited fiesta month.
The event aims to serve as a forerunner of the city’s advocacy at promoting good health and fitness among its constituents. After having been successful at implementing the no-smoking policy in the city adherent to the national regulations, its next directive is geared towards promoting further wellness through ample physical activities.
