TABACO CITY TOOK PART IN OKB-GAYON BICOL 2017

Tabaco City joined in the 21st Orgullo Kan Bicol (OKB) (Pride of Bicol) – Gayon Bicol (Beauty of Bicol) – Regional Trade and Travel Fair held at Megamall Hall 2, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City last October 5-8, 2017.

Organized by the OK Bicol Association Inc., in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Region 5 and the Department of Tourism (DOT) – Region 5, this 4 day enterprenurial and cultural event showcased the ample products the Bicol region has to offer in the national market. Participating in this year’s fair is a total of 141 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from all over Bicol. They featured a variety of products from finest handcrafted materials to local food delicacies and new innovative tools.

Padyak (a pedal-operated tricycle), tabak (machete), Bicol Express (a rich and spicy Bicolano dish made of pork cubes, shrimp paste, coconut milk and chili peppers), Pili nut candies and authentic abaca goodies, from bags to wallets are just some of the products Tabaco City has brought to the said event in order to promote the Tabaqueños and the city’s rich culture and historical background. Aside from this, Tabaco LGU also invited Colonial Grill’s renowned Bicolano ice cream in 3 authentic flavors – sili (chili), pili and tinutong (toasted rice grains). The proprietor of Colonial Grill resides at Sogod, Bacacay, Albay, located in the first district of Albay. Tabaco City, aside from promoting the best of Tabaco, also assisted in promoting the products of first district of Albay.

A day before OKB-Gayon Bicol has finally ended, Tabaqueño performers had the chance to present their talents on the stage at Tabaco City Day Celebration- Fun and Festive Tabaqueño.

Young Kiss Dance Theatricus conquered the dancefloor with hype and so much energy while Jayjay Clarianes presented a heartfelt ballet performance. Chriztel Mae Kallos, Gerald Bron, Heavenly Grace Boñaga and Joshua Madrid serenaded the crowd with their genuinely beautiful voices. Also, Jeane Bilasano, Mutya ng Tabak 2017 and Kemica Barcelona, Mutya ng Tabak 2014 had special appearance  at the said event.

Through OKB-Gayon Bicol 2017, MSMEs had the best opportunity to make their products known to the public,aside from this, the expo is also highlighting Bicol’s popular travel destinations to invite more tourists and promote the region’s tourism.
