The City Government of Tabaco through the City Social Welfare and Development Office distributed educational assistance to fifty-one (51) select college students.

These students and their families have undergone pre-assessment and interview to determine if they were eligible to avail the service.

This educational assistance was funded through DSWD’s BuB Project under Protective Programs and Services aimed to encourage LGUs to implement reforms and empower their citizens.

Last year (2017), the program had given a total of Php 597,500 worth of educational assistance to 144 beneficiaries.

Tabaco City have seen the great impact of the said program so this year (2018), we have continued to give assistance now depending solely on LGU funds.

Starting January of 2018, this program benefited 26 students providing them assistance good for one semester. However, at the last quarter of this year, the program has been enhanced and was extended to give assistance good for two semesters.

The giving of assistance to these students ultimately seeks to embolden them and motivate to do better for themselves, their families and the society.
